Services

Work that respects the way you already eat.

Sessions are conversations with a registered dietitian, not a PDF of chicken and broccoli. Samar works in English or Arabic, with the foods of a Middle Eastern and Metro Detroit kitchen.

01 — Counseling

One-to-one nutrition counseling

A private working relationship. You bring how you actually eat — the weekday rice, the Friday guests, the late olives, the lab printout in your bag. Samar brings assessment, a plan you can cook, and follow-up that notices what slipped and why. This is the core of the practice.

  • English or Arabic, your choice, including mixed-language sessions for families
  • Goals that can include energy, digestion, blood sugar, cholesterol, weight, or simply a calmer table
  • No forbidden-food lists; adjustments live inside your cuisine

02 — Households

The family kitchen

In many of the homes Samar serves, one person cooks for three generations. A plan that only works if you plate a separate “diet” meal will fail by Thursday. Family kitchen work treats the household as the unit of care: one pot, many needs, fewer arguments at the stove.

  • Shared meals that still meet different health needs
  • Help talking with parents, in-laws, and children without turning dinner into a lecture
  • Guest-heavy weeks, Ramadan, and the ordinary Tuesday

03 — Clinical

Blood sugar, heart, and everyday medical nutrition

When a physician mentions A1C, LDL, blood pressure, reflux, or “you should lose some weight,” the next question is almost always the same: what do I do with bread? Samar works inside the scope of a registered dietitian to translate clinical goals onto a Levantine and American-Arab plate. She does not replace your doctor. She makes the kitchen stop fighting the clinic.

  • Glucose, lipids, blood pressure, and related eating patterns
  • Bread, rice, fruit, and olive oil — kept, paced, and understood
  • Referral out when a concern needs a specialist or a higher level of care

04 — Teaching

Kitchen notes & myth correction

This is the public half of the practice — the work already happening on Instagram, written here so it can be reread. Correcting a bad nutrition idea is not a small thing. It is often the first relief a family feels.

  • Free essays on plates, myths, groceries, and family eating
  • Teaching in English and Arabic
  • The same standard as a session: no scare, no gimmick

What a first session is

Not an interrogation. A map.

01

How you eat now

Meals, snacks, oil, bread, sweet tea, late nights, who cooks, who decides.

02

What you were told

Labs, diagnoses, a well-meaning relative, a diet that lasted eleven days.

03

What you will not give up

The foods that mean home. Those stay on the table. Everything else is negotiable in the service of how you feel.

04

What we try first

Two or three changes that fit this month — not a new personality.

Fees, insurance, and fit

Write on Instagram to talk through fit, language, and fees. Insurance coverage for nutrition counseling varies by plan in Michigan; Samar will be direct about what she can and cannot do with billing. A first conversation is for seeing whether the work is right — not for selling a package you do not need.

Outside this practice

Samar does not provide eating-disorder treatment, medical diagnosis, or emergency care. She does not prescribe. If what you need is a different clinician, she would rather say so early than keep you in the wrong room.
